Sports Related Question
Do you prefer professional or College sports? Why? What aspects of each do you like or dislike?
Sports interview
Paige Monast is a teenage student as Norton High School. When asked whether or not she enjoys watching sports she replied with "No". Many girls are not particularly interested in sports, and Paige, an avid dancer and artistic type certainly is interested in other things more so. Paige does consider lesser known, or less popular events as sports. For example, Dance, Competitive Cheer, figure skating. Being a dancer herself this was an easy question to answer. Sports stars have been considered over paid by many people. When asked if she considers them to be over paid, she said she does think they are over paid.
Paige is not a very frequent sports watcher, so as someone who already has a lack of interest in sports she said that Football is the least exciting sport to watch. In the Monast residence Basketball is a very popular sport watched by several family members, so football isn't popular even among the sports watchers. When asked how many live sporting events Paige has been to, she stated that shes been to about 20 live sporting event all of which were Red Sox games with her dad.
Joey Delgrasso is a Norton High student in the 11th grade. He enjoys basketball and is an over all athletic kid. Joey does enjoys sports. He quickly replied with "Yes of course" when asked if he enjoyed watching them. Joey said that he does consider uncommon events as sports, such as figure skating, cheer leading etc.. as long as they are competitive. When asked if he considers athletes over paid he said Yes, but only baseball. This makes sense because baseballs players commonly sign 100 million dollar deals.
Joeys least favorite sport to watch is soccer. This isn't unexpected because soccer isn't a very popular sport in the united states.. and especially among american males. Joey has been to 8 live sporting events in his life. This is still more than the average person, but considering he is a sports fan it's not completely unexpected.

The Best Norton Will Ever Have
Coach Coleman and the Norton
Wrestling team could not have wished for a more dominating season. With an
almost perfect record, the team took the State d3 title with ease. This being
their second state title, the Lancers swept the competition with the sectional
title as well. Norton can’t be stopped.
The State title was in the hands of
the wrestling team from the beginning of the season. There was no competition. “Norton
did not just win the MIAA d-3 state
wrestling championship at Foxboro. They owned it. Dominated it. Yanked it away
from everybody else, stamped their names on the banner and hung it on the Laroque
Gym wall.” Being the best of 56 teams, Lynnfield was still a whopping 41 points
behind the lancers. A crushing victory for the lancers considering no one even
came close to them. Mike Travers became the third Norton Lancer to win a state
title for himself, coming first in the 190 pound weight class. Jonathan Taylor
came Third in the 145 weight class, and Myles Mcalpine got fourth. In
Sectionals Mike Travers, Jonathan Taylor, Myles Mcalpine and Elliot Johnson won
their weight classes. Norton also won the Canton tournament and the Tri-Valley
league.
Six wrestlers qualified for the
All-state competition. Mike Travers wrestled well and ended up in 6th
place. Myles came in second so he came out as an alternate for the New England’s
competition. Other team wrestlers wrestled well but did not qualify high enough
to get a medal. Elliot Johnson was unable to wrestle due to a previous injury
he received in the State Competition. Last year the Pin record was set by Mike Travers with 35 pins for the year. This year Jonathan Taylor set the new school record with 37 season pins.
This years team was filled with many competitive and highly skilled wrestlers. The dedication each wrestler put in, with the leadership of an amazing coach lead to the best season they could have possibly had. Norton may never have another wrestling team like the one that competed this year.

The New Big Red Machine
Few things in this world are flawless, but the Canadian Olympic hockey team is definitely one of them. Many people including, Bruce Bennett of CBS News have called the Canadian team this year the "new Big Red Machine." Canada went undefeated in 6 games. Something like this has not happened since the 1984 Olympics where The Soviet Union did the same. Canada did amazingly but many people speculate that they could have been defeated if conditions for the Swedish team were different. Already missing two of their star players, Henrik Zetterberg and Henrik Sedin due to injury, the Swedes faced another fatal blow when Nicklas Backstrom failed a doping test due to his allergy medication. Many speculate that if the Swedish team had been at full force they could have taken down this "New Big Red Machine". I do not think that Sweden would have been able to take on Canada even with all their players healthy and in the game. Not only was this their second Winter Olympic Gold but Canada crushed the competition with 0 losses in the Olympic games.Canada has a huge selection of players to choose from because of its massive hockey leagues. This allowed them an upper hand in the Olympics because they were able to create the best possible team with far more options than any other team in the Olympics. The Sochi Olympics were dominated over all by the Canadian mens team because of their large selection of talent and ability to play well with each other. As we saw on the U.S team, having super stars play well with each other is not an easy thing. This was something Canada was able to accomplish. They got their best players and gave them the conditions to play efficiently with one another. Canada could not be touched by anyone.

Ken Ross Response
I don't think Sam will be very well accepted in the NFL. The NFL is filled with a lot of Macho men, many of whom have grown up viewing homosexuality as wrong and strange. Sam will face great challenges being openly gay in such a male dominated sport.

Hernandez
Hernandez's childhood was a large contributor to his outlandish life style. His father left at a young age and as a result he was left with no father figure in his life. This shows his inability to deal respectfully with disciplinary authority figures in his life such as police officers and some of his football coaches. His mother is partially to blame as well. Instead of getting a responsible father figure who could guide her children properly in life, she married a violent coke dealer. This greatly contributed to his violent gangster lifestyle. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and although he wasn't his biological father, he was still greatly affected by him. The patriots should have been more careful and read the warning signs of Hernandez's past. First off it was pretty well known that he was involved in gang activity. At one point in time he shot someone in the backseat of his car causing the person to lose an eye in the incident. He got low in the draft due to his inability to comply with coaches. Aka everyone knew he was trouble. During his time of excessive partying and increased gang activity the Patriots organization should have stepped in and applied some sort of disciplinary actions to straiten him out. Athletes appear so untouchable because we view them as having achieved such a high goal that many people strive for, when in reality they're normal people who can have troubled past's just like any of us.

Super Bowl 42
First off let me say that I hardly considered that a football game. It was pathetic. I predicted that the final score would be 34 to 27 in favor of the Seahawks.. Although my scoring for the winning team was a little off.. boy was I wrong when it came to the Broncos score. The game started with a horrible miss snap by the broncos which lead to a safety giving the Seahawks an immediate 2 points. The game proceeded on with two back to back field goals by the Seahawks in the read zone. 8-0 wasn't too bad of a score to over come but after Mannings second interception things really started to get bad. He threw a pathetic pass for an interception which eventually lead to a touchdown making the score 15-0. To me this was the point where I lost interest in the game and started going to social media. If i'm going to watch two teams that I care absolutely nothing about the game should at least be interesting. It was slaughter. The Seahawks had no competition. The Half time show was decent. Personally when I think halftime show I think over the top and crazy. Bruno Mars is a good performer but there was nothing about the performance that really stood out for me. Having a small Superbowl gathering at my house i found that eventually almost everyone lost interest. Eventually majority of the people went from watching the game, to going on their phones, to sitting in my kitchen talking about the local school drama. I personally really enjoyed the puppy commercial by Budweiser.
